I was asked to refinish some beautiful mahogany
front doors on a home in Long Beach, MS. The
finish had cracked and worn down to the bare
wood at the bottom and was near non-
existence on the top.
After sanding down the doors, the wood was so
beautiful, the client decided to just keep the light
color that had developed over the past eight years
of weather and sunlight. I couldn't have agreed
more.
I used three coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane.
I sanded with 400 grit between coats. I also
distressed the handle and spar coated over the
brass hardware which gave it a vintage aesthetic.
Very beautiful mahogany doors!
